Actively Involved in Campbell River Salmon Enhancement
Profish Adventures believes that, as sportsmen, when we take from a natural resource we should give back.
The health of the salmon population is important to my life and is a critical part of the ecosystem around us in Campbell River. Guided salmon fishing is how I provide for my family of Five. At Profish Adventures we take an active role in supporting a healthy, sustainable environment that will ensure the viability of this resource for years to come.
Volunteering
Profish Adventures has been involved in raising money for the Nootka Sound watershed community. Profish Adventures has also donated time, labour, boat transportion and experience during Chinook brood stock capture and egg takes on the Gold and Burman rivers.
During the Off-Season
We don’t hibernate — we work! During the off season I worked for 10 years as a fisheries enhancement technician at Quinsam River fish hatchery, which is located near the community of Campbell River. The Quinsam River is a tributary of the Campbell River. The Quinsam River Hatchery raises Chinook, Coho and Pink salmon and sea-run cutthroat trout. The hatchery plays an important role ensuring the future of salmon and trout runs in the Campbell and Quinsam River systems.
